RIP: Sitar legend Ravi Shankar dies at 92
Ravi Shankar, the legendary sitar player who taught Beatle George Harrison how to play the stringed instrument and brought Indian music to the West, has passed away at age 92. His music transcended trends and cultural barriers and he was also the father of jazz singer Norah Jones. Andy Williams, one of the last of the original crooners, has died of bladder cancer at his home in Branson, Missouri. He was 84. Williams rose to stardom in the mid-1950′s and will be remembered for his long-running, Emmy Award-winning variety show and hits like Moon River and Days of Wine and Roses. Bob Welch, an early guitarist with Fleetwood Mac and who enjoyed some success as a solo artist in the 70′s was found dead in Nashville Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Former New York Cosmos star Giorgio Chinaglia died of complications from a heart attack Sunday. The Italian soccer great was 65. Chinaglia died at his home in Naples, Fla., his son, Anthony, said through family friend Charlie Stillitano, who was Chinaglia’s co-host on a Sirius XM radio show.
